Medical Cannabis in NSW

"Following calls by the Australian Medical Association (AMA) for people with cancer and AIDS to be prescribed cannabis for pain relief, the Government [NSW] convened a working party to advise the Government on:

  • Whether patients with some medical conditions should be allowed to use cannabis for medical purposes; and
  • If so, how this might be achieved, while taking into account the clinical needs of patients and the legal and social issues without legalising or decriminalising the recreational use of cannabis.

The working party produced a Report called the Use of Cannabis for Medical Purposes, August 2000.

and called for submissions on the Report from interested parties.
