10 - 19 March 2000
Hobart, Tasmania
There are moves afoot to run another Living Rivers festival in 2001. Watch this space for details.
In 2000 we celebrated the river as a powerful symbol of water
and life, and we focussed energy on the challenge
of river restoration in the
Century for Restoring the Earth.
Thousands of people communed with
the Gyuto monks, listened to informative talks about the troubles with
dams on the Mekong river, danced and listened to concerts for the rivers
of Tasmania and the earth, were inspired by the photographic exhibition,
went on field trips, watched audio-visuals, remembered the Franklin and
otherwise celebrated rivers and expressed hope for their future.
A summary of the events, and pictures, will be placed on this web site when we've recovered!
