Captains Creek,

forest dominated by Rough barked Angophoras, of State Significance in this area near the southern limit of their range.

Grassy lowland forest;

a unique stand occuring along the Shipwreck Creek walking track. The grassy understory is depleted of shrubs, likely due to fires so frequent that the shurbs weren't able to produce seed before being burnt.

Lichen;

found at Wingan Rapids. Great diversity here, with spores washed down from a catchment containing a few undisturbed forests.

Wingan Rapids

shown here at the peak of the drought of the century, with lovely drinkable fresh water.

Point Hicks;
included in the Point Hicks Marine National Park, with Croajingolong National Park as catchment of most of the streams that flow to it. This is the western side, which leads to the pristine white sands of West Beach.

Driftwood
seen on the beach near Mueller River.

The shipwreck coast,

seen just off the Shipwreck Creek walking Track, with Coast Banksia and Mountain Grey Gum.

Whale skull,
found washed up on the beach near Mueller River, as yet unidentified. My dog would have been so jealous; long walk down a deserted beach to find the biggest bone you've even seen! Dingo tracks led over the dunes to some huge vertebrae.

The Manana,
oopsy! Well, they dont call it the shipwrreck coast for nothing. Apparently the unfortunate skipper woke to the sound 'bump, bump, BUMP' as the hull hit the rocks.
