The age of Krudd has begun.

The last political act of the long-reigning Howard government was to cut any convicted drug dealers of government benefits. What does he think they're going to do to make a living now? Their election campaign referred to communists and "reds under the beds", which their TV ads linked to Unions and greenies.

I saw warning lights flashing "FASCISM APPROACHING" a new age of fear, paranoia and repression was upon us. There’s only you and me brother, and I’m not that sure about you!

The game plan was dig deeper, export more raw resource, cut labour costs, maintain the economy. The election result showed Western Australia liked the plan.

Nation-wide there was a record swing against them. Factors cited include some "unauthorised" race baiting, the Tamar Valley Pulp Mill, and Workplace Agreements. These were all reasons why the Liberals lost, while Labor won because of, um,... "new leadership"?

And so begins the Age of Krud. Prepare for grand announcements, hurrah, hurrah! Ah but we can't stop what's already been approved, exporting uranium will help reduce coal emissions, logging is sustainable and we only woodchip the waste. In his opening speech, Prime Minister Kevin Rudd, said "I will be a prime minister for all Australians." Now that's Krud. Quite meaningless, yet implying a leader that listens to and responds to all people's wishes, which given the contrary views involved, is impossible.

The concept of manufacturing consent was well revealed by Noam Chomsky; where mass media serves as a form of thought control in a democratic society, with media message limited to those acceptable by large corporations and the government, while the public are sedated and distracted with sports, entertainment and gadgets. For example, the question will be limited to "how much uranium should we export?", rather than "should we build more wind turbines?" Thus limited, the export of uranium is the only possible otucome of the debate. Krud!

This message brought to you in the spirit of Tristan Gilberd, who said;
"Understanding is knowing what to do;
wisdom is knowing what to do next;
virtue is actually doing it."
