Fern Valley

Species typical in Goolengook include: Soft Tree Fern (foreground), Rough Tree Fern (taller, amongst trees), Slender Tree Fern (very tall and thin, in shadow at top rear of picture), Blackwood (tree trunks in right foreground), Lillypilly (deep green tree at rear centre), Wait-A-While (climbing vine at left), Tree Everlasting (white flowering bush at middle right), Mountain Grey Gum (not pictured), and Silvertop Ash (across hill at very rear). After clearfelling, the Silvertop Ash dominates in a single-species, single age plantation like forest.
